Abstract |
Computer programs have been developed to estimate storage needs for Soil Treatment Systems from analyses of daily climatological data. One program uses a set of thresholds for temperature, precipitation and/or snow depth to estimate storage needs in colder regions. A second program is designed for use in high rainfall regions where saturated soil, rather than severe weather, is the limiting condition. Climatological data for a 20- to 25-year period is examined for each case to produce a summary table. This table presents the mean, the standard deviation, the unbiased third moment about the mean, the coefficient of skewness and storage days for recurrence intervals of 5, 10, 25, and 50 years. |
