Abstract | Results are given of investigations, on 25 percent of Roanoke, Virginia's separate sanitary sewerage system, on the amounts of infiltration for various storm intensities and durations and the amounts of sewage overflow from the system. From these results the system was analyzed, using an in-house developed computer program, to assess the magnitudes and frequencies of overflows. The generated data from the analysis were used to develop an optimum design for remedial measures to reduce sewer overflows. Costs estimates are presented for the various items of work involved.
