Abstract |
The objective of this report is to present a detailed methodology and a case study analysis of how runoff from urban and urbanizing areas affect water quality. The study outlines existing and projected land uses in the relatively small Wissahickon Basin (Pennsylvania) and its related water quality problems. The methodology employs a simple mass balance determination of sediment and absorbed materials based on a modified universal soil loss calculation. It is adopted to field study data and other local conditions, such as climate, slope, and patterns of residential and commercial development. |
