Abstract |
The city of Post Falls, Idaho has applied to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for funds to develop a facilities plan for the construction of a central wastewater collection, treatment and disposal system to serve city residents. The wastewater treatment system is needed to terminate the use of individual on-site wastewater disposal systems which are suspected of contaminating the Rathdrum Prairie aquifer. This aquifer serves as a drinking water supply for 338,000 people in the Spokane River basin. Construction of a wastewater treatment system for Post Falls will comply with aquifer protection policies. EPA has prepared this draft environmental impact statement to evaluate the consequences of the proposed wastewater treatment facility. |
