Abstract |
This short term research project was undertaken for the purpose of locating and identifying sites where potential dissolved oxygen (D.O.) impacts exist during periods of urban runoff, and providing the necessary information to justify more extensive D.O. model verification studies at the impacted sites. Since there are little available field data on the effects of urban runoff on D.O. in receiving waters, this study was designed as a rough screening project to aid in selecting sites for potential in-depth study. Twenty-five cities located in the state of Indiana were evaluated and D.O. measurements reported for nine of the sites though to be most suitable for further monitoring. The project sampling program was designed to detect significant D.O. deficits in these streams during periods of rainfall and runoff. |
