Abstract |
Acoustic emission monitoring is a technique used to monitor the stability of earthen impoundments of hazardous wastes. This system is based on the phenomenon that soils emit sounds under stress and, when properly amplified and quantified, can be a valuable guide in evaluating the stability of hazardous waste dams. The capsule report describes in greater detail the theory, installation and costs of this system. |
