Abstract | A computer model was composed to estimate evaporation from a body of water and the value of a monomolecular film as an evaporation suppressant. An energy budget, the Crank-Nicolson numerical method, and Lake Hefner, Arizona, meterorological data were used in the model. These features were organized into a simulation which estimates evaporation and calculates a temperature profile based on a trial and error solution to the heat equation. The model was written in the Fortran V computer language as operating on the UNIVAC 1110 computer system. |
