Abstract |
Methodologies and approaches to the study of microbial transformation of organic compounds in natural waters and sediments are outlined. Tentative evidence is given to demonstrate that use of rate constants is a reasonable approach. Application of second-order kinetics incorporating the effects of organic compound concentration, bacterial concentration, and sorption by suspended sediment is made to natural systems. |
