Abstract | The objectives of the study were: (1) To determine the magnitude, characteristics, and effects on the receiving water of waste discharges from sugar mill operations in the state of Hawaii; (2) to compare the magnitude and characteristics of runoff from the sugar cane fields with runoff from non-developed areas; (3) to identify remedial measures that would adequately control any observed pollution.
