Abstract
The first section deals with aquatic resources of the Kenai River watershed, and the second section cover terrestrial and wetland resources of the watershed. The goals of this project were: (1) to compile a bibliography of aquatic, wetland and terrestrial research and monitoring conducted within the Kenai River watershed; (2) synthesize this information; and (3) identify gaps in the information needed to manage the Kenai River water shed on an ecosystem basis. The aquatic section reviews 201 research document to synthesize the information available and to suggest research gaps for future studies. Physical parameters summarized include tributary and mainstem Kenai River discharge, stream morphology and substratum size distribution, and water quality. For terrestrial and wetland resources, gaps in information needed for managing the Kenai River watershed were identified by first defining the management goals and the information needed for achieving these goals. The management goals were: (1) to sustain viables salmon stocks; (2) maintain an atractive and economically viable environment for residents and tourists; and (3) manage government lands for their mandated purposes.
