Abstract |
The article reviews the use of model substrates to assess the capacity of the liver to metabolize xenobiotics via the myriad of drug metabolizing pathways available to it. The applicability of model compounds to act as predictors of in vivo drug metabolism in man and animals was evaluated, and the advantages and limitations of these assays are indicated.
