Abstract | Pollution of the 67-mile reach of the North Platte River from Torrington, Wyoming, to Bridgeport, Nebraska, was investigated during December 1960. Sources were determined to be partially treated sewage from a sugar and an oil processing plant, municipal wastes, and agriculatural wastes. The combined pollution from all sources severely damages the potential fishery of this water, destroys the aesthetic appeal of the stream, renders the water unsuitable as a source of supply for domestic and many industrial uses. |
