Abstract | Data on the environmental requirements for 245 taxa of North American Trichoptera are compiled from 294 references. This compilation is prepared to assist biologists in evaluating data from macroinvertebrate samples collected for the assessment of water quality. The following parameters are considered: life stage, general habitat, specific habitat, retreat, diet, turbidity, current, temperature, pH, D.O., alkalinity (phenolphthalein and total), nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, phosphorus (ortho and total), seasonal distribution, and geographic distribution. Where possible ranges for the parameters mentioned are given. Additional parameters such as toxic compounds, heavy metals, and pesticides are included when available. |
