Abstract |
A knowledge of the kinds and concentrations of organic chemical compounds in surface waters is important and useful in studies concerned with tastes and odors in drinking water, natural purification of streams, analysis and tracing of industrial wastes, and toxic and other physiological effects on man and animal. Direct analysis for most organic compounds is not usually possible due to the minute concentrations which normally occur in surface waters. The report describes a method for the concentration and estimation of organic compounds in raw and filtered surface water. Possible applications of the techniques presented are discussed. (Author) |
