Abstract |
The report addresses the quality of the waters of the State of Illinois for the period of 1986 and 1987 in fulfillment of Section 305(b) of the Clean Water Act. Waterbodies including rivers, streams, inland lakes, and Lake Michigan are assessed for degree of designated use support and attainment of fishable/swimmable Clean Water Act goals. Brief discussions of the State's wetland resources and groundwater protection programs are also provided. In addition, detailed information regarding public health/aquatic life concerns (fish advisories, fish kills, sediment contamination, waterborne toxics); lakes information required by Section 314 of the CWA; Nonpoint Source Assessment information required by Section 319(a); identification of waters impacted by toxics required by Section 304(l); water pollution control program descriptions; and special state concerns and recommendations are also provided. |
