Abstract |
The Waste Reduction Innovative Technology Evaluation (WRITE) Program is one of EPA's major pollution prevention research programs. The program encourages joint interaction by industry and government in the development, demonstration and implementation of effective techniques and practices for minimizing the generation of non-hazardous as well as hazardous wastes. Through the program, technical and economic evaluations of industrial manufacturing and processing operations use to reduce the volume or toxicity of wastes are conducted. Research studies are also being conducted under the WRITE Program to address long-term chemical and industry-specific pollution prevention issues. The paper describes the development and implementation of EPA's WRITE Program. Summaries of the Program findings and conclusions to date are also presented. |
