Abstract | This report presents the results of the risk assessment for sediment contaminants in specific areas of Tampa Bay including upper and lower Hillsborough Bay, McKay Bay, Boca Ciega Bay, Bayboro Harbor and adjacent areas in western middle Tampa Bay, and western Old Tampa Bay. As part of this risk assessment, specific chemicals were identified as contaminants of concern (COCs). The criteria used to identify COCs included: (1) estimated exposures represented a significant potential for adverse effects based on the magnitude of exceedance of the risk threshold, (2) the number of receptors affected, (3) potential effects from direct and food web exposure, (4) the frequency of contaminant detection, and (5) the uncertainty associated with components of the risk estimate. |
