Abstract | The decision document presents the selected action for Operable Unit 6 (OU 6) at the Naval Submarine Base (SUBASE), Bangor in Silverdale, Washington. The selected remedy at Site D will address the threat posed by treatment of ordnance-contaminated soils. Soil containing ordnance compounds at concentrations greater than established cleanup levels will be excavated and treated by on-base composting, an innovative technology. Confirmation sampling will be done to ensure that cleanup levels have been attained. Once cleanup levels are achieved, the composted soils will be returned to the excavation, and the area will be regraded and revegetated. |
