Abstract |
The association of contaminants with suspended colloidal material in groundwater is a possible transport mechanism and a complicating factor for accurate estimations of the aqueous geochemistry of subsurface systems. Research to date indicates colloidal facilitated transport of contaminants in groundwaters, surface waters, and in the unsaturated zone. If continued research shows colloidal transport of contaminants to be significant, sampling methods and transport models must consider and be sensitive to this transport and reaction mechanism. |
