Abstract |
It has become increasingly obvious that important interactions exist between decisions regarding the treatment of contaminated ground and surface water for consumption and aquifer restoration and hazardous waste cleanup. Many of the contaminants to be regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) are the same as those to be regulated under the Comprehensive Environmental Response Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA) Hazardous Substances List. The purpose of the paper is to (1) describe the state-of-the-art of drinking water treatment technology and (2) provide examples of some field applications that provide safe drinking water from contaminated aquifers. |
