Abstract | The Lincoln Creosote Site (Site) is located in Bossier City, Louisiana, and consists of a 20-acre industrial area that includes the former location of a wood treatment plant. Wood products such as railroad ties and utility poles were pressure treated at the plant, using creosote, chromated copper-arsenate (CCA) and pentachlorophenol (PCP) as wood preservatives. The compounds used for wood treatment contained metals, a number of semi-volatile organic base-neutral extractable compounds such as polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbon (PAHs). EPA's selected removal action called for excavation of residential soils containing concentrations of wood treatment product residuals. |
