Abstract | The nutrition of several species of algae found in eutrophic and oligotrophic lakes and the usefulness of these algae in bio-assays for detecting limiting nutrients in natural waters were investigated. The roles of bicarbonate, pH, monovalent and divalent cations, phosphorus, nitrogen and iron are discussed. (Author) |
