Abstract |
The report examines how water quality standards were actually used in cleanup programs on Dominguez Channel, the Tuolumne River, the Sacramento River, the Williamette River, the Maumee River, the Mahoning River and Baltimore Harbor. Although it does not concern itself with how strict the standards should be, it suggests language for standards and analyzes such technical matters such as monitoring for water quality standards violations, determination of assimilative capacity and load allocation (permits or orders). General recommendations are given for technically implementing water quality standards in order to improve water quality. |
