Abstract |
In 1981, sampling by the Environmental Protection Agency confirmed that Lakewood Water District Production Wells H-1 and H-2 were contaminated with chlorinated hydrocarbons. Further testing revealed that the semi-confined aquifer from which the production wells are drawn was contaminated with the target compounds. The installation of deep monitoring wells indicated that the shallow aquifer was not the source of contamination. The source was subsequently identified as a discharge to a septic tank drain field at a laundry and dry cleaners. |
