Abstract | In assessing water quality (Tables 1 and 2), the Lake Michigan Water Quality Standards are used along with General Use and Public and Food Processing Water Supply Standards. Additionally, on criterion for beach closure was also used in this evaluation. Discharges along the Illinois shore now consist primarily of cooling water and some combined sewer overflows. Major sources of pollutants along the Illinois shore of Lake Michigan are atmospheric disposition, urban runoff and in-place contaminants. |
