Abstract |
The Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 requires the control of point and nonpoint sources of water pollution in meeting the goals of the Act. Section 208 of the Act encourages that all activities associated with point and nonpoint source problems be planned and managed through an integrated areawide waste treatment management program. These draft guidelines apply to those areas with complex problems as designated by the states for Section 208 planning and management. The guidelines are intended to assist the designated local planning agencies for those areas in developing an areawide plan and implementation program consistent with the minimum planning requirements and procedures for obtaining grant assistance set forth in the grant regulations. |
