Abstract |
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has prepared this decision document to present the selected remedial action for the Ralston site located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The selected remedy prevents exposure to contaminated ground water, restores the ground water to drinking water quality outside of the disposal area, and maintains site conditions which prevents exposure to contaminated soil. The selected remedy includes the following components: Monitored natural attenuation of ground water; Continued ownership of the fenced-in area, including the disposal area; Continued listing of the site on the Registry of Hazardous Waste or Hazardous Substance Disposal Site pursuant to Iowa Administrative Code 455B.426; Continued designation of a protection ground water source area surrounding the site pursuant to Iowa Administrative Code 567-33.7(455B); Maintenance of the disposal area cap; and Maintenance of the Dry Run Creek bank stabilization. |
