Abstract | The report presents the results of a study undertaken by EPA in New England that examined 24 environmental problems to determine which areas present the greatest residual ecological risk. The analyses conducted by the ecological risk work group compared the stressors associated with each problem area with eight different ecosystems found in New England. The work group found the problems posing the most serious ecological risks are air pollution (particularly ozone), acid rain, loss of wetlands and habitat, all discharges to surface water, and accidental releases. |
