Abstract |
The document recommends and describes a design for landfill covers that will meet the requirements of RCRA regulations. It is a multilayered system consisting, from the top down, of: a top layer of at least 60 cm of soil, either vegetated or armored at the surface; a granular or geosynthetic drainage layer with a hydraulic transmissivity no less than 0.00003 sq cm/sec; and a two-component low permeability layer comprised of (1) a flexible membrane liner installed directly on (2) a compacted soil component with an hydraulic conductivity no greater than 1 x 10 to the minus 7th power cm/sec. |
