Abstract |
The report describes protocol for a standardized primary producer nutrient bioassay for assessment of the effect of cultural eutrophication in estuarine and coastal marine areas. It is a companion procedure to the freshwater Algal Assay Procedure: Bottle Test, EPA, August, 1971. The green biflagellate unicellular alga Dunaliella tertiolecta Butcher (DUN clone) was selected as the bioassay organism because of its wide salinity tolerance, sensitivity to incremental additions and natural levels of critical or limiting nutrients, excellent replication and simple evaluation characteristics. The report contains numerous references. |
