Abstract |
The Five-Year Reviews CD set contains full-text copies of five-year review documents that have been prepared for Superfund hazardous waste sites. Sites that require extensive, long-term cleanup are required to have a five-year review documents prepared by EPA to evaluate the implementation and performance of site remedies to determine if they remain protective of human health and the environment. Five-year reviews are required whenever a remedial action results in hazardous substances, pollutants, or contaminants remaining on a site above levels which would allow for unlimited use and unrestricted exposure. Reviews at such sites must be conducted no less than every five years after the initiation of the remedial action, thus the term 'five year reviews'. There are two types of review; policy reviews, explain policy issues related to the site; and statutory reviews, review applicable statutes and compliance. This 2 CD-ROM set contains both policy and statutory reviews. A master list by EPA region of all five-year reviews contained on this CD set is available as well as the ability to search the contents of the CDs using Adobes search capabilities. |
