Abstract |
Spills, waste disposal, and various industrial operations can result in the contamination of land surfaces with toxic chemicals. Soil particles from these areas can be entrained into the air, transported offsite via the wind, and result in human exposure by direct inhalation. Indirect exposure could result if particulates are deposited in agricultural fields, pastures, or waterways and enter the human food chain. The purpose of the handbook is to assist hazardous waste site managers in: Identifying sources of fugitive dust; Controlling fugitive dust. |
