Abstract |
The report identifies and analyzes economic impacts that are projected to result from water pollution control regulations on the gold placer mining industry. The regulations include EPA effluent limitations and standards. The report supplements technical studies supporting the issuance of the gold placer mining regulations by estimating the broader economic effects which might result from the application of various control methods and technologies. The primary economic impact variables assessed include the cost of the contemplated regulations, and the potential for these regulations to cause plant closure, unemployment, reductions in profitability, and the increase in operating costs due to compliance. |
