Abstract | This paper describes the current research program on flexible membrane liners (FML's) being conducted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Office of Research and Development (ORD). Three main program areas are discussed--prediction of service life based on liner-waste compatibility and liner resistance to various waste chemicals, installation requirements for FML's, and field verification. Also examined are the cooperative efforts of EPA, the liner industry, and the user community to develop the full potential for FML use in waste management facilities. |
