Abstract |
The NCEA is currently reassessing the cancer unit risk estimates from the 1985 document entitled 'Interim Quantitative Cancer Unit Risk Estimates Due to Inhalation of Benzene' for the Office of Mobile Sources. New data has provided some information regarding the shape of the cancer dose-response curve below detectable risk levels in humans. This could influence how environmental exposures are modeled to obtain a better and more valid fit of the data to actual risk levels in the determination of the cancer unit risk estimate. Furthermore, recent epidemiologic findings that provide more accurate estimates of exposure may increase confidence in the level of detectable risk to humans. |
