Abstract |
EPA is proposing issuance of NPDES permits to Houston Lighting & Power Company for the Malakoff Electric Generating Station and the North American Coal Corporation for the trinity lignite mine. Wastewater will be discharged to various tributaries of the Trinity River. The plant water for the 2-600 megawatt units will be obtained from the upper Neches Municipal River Water Authority and will be transported via a 45 mile pipeline to a storage pond at the plant site. Bottom ash, fly ash, and other solid waste will be disposed of on-site. NACCO proposes to mine approximately 600 acres per year for a period of 35 years. |
