Abstract | The Industrial Lane site encompasses approximately two square miles in Williams Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. A portion of the Chrin Landfill, a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources permitted landfill, is on the site as are several active and abandoned industrial properties, commercial establishments, railroads and farming/residential areas. As a result of the detection of low level ground water contamination, the Chrin Landfill was placed on the NPL in February 1983. In addition to the preparation of a Remedial Investigation, two Feasibility Studies for the Industrial Lane site were also prepared. While residential wells located upgradient of the Chrin Landfill have historically contained only background levels of VOCs, the chemicals detected in wells within the Glendon Boro residential community represent the primary contaminants of concern. These include tetrachloroethene, and chloroform. |
