Abstract
The document presents a framework for conducting assessments in the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP). The framework describes basic elements of the assessment process and provides a common foundation for conducting assessments within EMAP. Because of its general nature, the framework should be adaptable to a diverse set of assessment questions and needs. Consequently, the document is written to assist science administrators and resource managers in understanding the EMAP assessment process.
