Abstract |
The report gives results of a research program to identify the characteristics of particulate matter reintroduced into a gas stream flowing through an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) attributable to collection electrode rapping. The study included both fundamental and experimental studies of dust layer behavior in a pilot-scale ESP with collection electrodes of a size that approximates those in a full-scale field unit. Results of the pilot study, together with those of a related study of full-scale ESPs collecting flyash from coal-fired boilers, were used to modify the EPA Computer Systems Model of an ESP to more nearly represent the actual behavior of this class of particulate control device. |
