Abstract |
Cultural studies of the general flora of activated sludge require a medium as non-selective as can be accomplished. In the present investigation, culture media for obtaining maximal bacterial counts of activated sludge and sewage were evaluated. In these studies, the viable counts of settled sewages and activated sludges from three treatment plants were compared on several agar culture media. In the report's descriptions of plating experiments, the activated sludge extract (ASE) agars were inoculated with portions of the same sample of activated sludge from which the extracts were prepared. |
