Abstract |
The objective was to provide the average planning group with a usable tool that would impart a systematic procedure for analyzing the water and sewerage networks of a regional metropolitan area. Six procedures were constructed, using three computer models: the inventory and data projection procedure which provides the input; the population model which generates the desirable alternatives in terms of people and their socio-economic characteristics; the land use procedure which allocates the output of the population model to an areal scheme; the demand model and procedure which produces the water demand and sewage output for the given areal scheme; the network model and procedure which optimizes on a least cost basis, while maximizing utilization of resources, the networks of water and sewerage to fulfill the alternatives available, and finally the plan procedures for the development of a continuing and comprehensive plan. The model was developed using data from the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments. |
