Abstract |
The paper summarizes results of EPA-sponsored large pilot-scale combustion tests on a Riley Stoker second-generation low-NOx burner. Parametric tests were conducted on a single 29 MWt (100 million Btu/hr) prototype burner to determine conditions required for low-NOx operation and for combined NOx/SO2 control. SO2 reductions were evaluated for two sorbents, two injection locations, and three coals. NOx emissions of 150-250 ppm, corrected to 3% O2, were obtained under various combustion conditions. SO2 reductions of 31-57%, with no detrimental effect on NOx emissions, were observed. |
