Abstract |
The report discusses advantages of preheating coal before charging it into coke ovens, as an introduction to the use of charging systems that do not use larry cars. Two larry-car-free systems are discussed. A third system, which uses a larry car for charging preheated coal, is also discussed to provide more complete coverage of the charging of preheated coal. The two larry-car-free charging systems offer good possibilities for eliminating emissions generated during the usual method of charging coke ovens with larry cars. (The report responds to Item AM-2-2 of the Protocol of the First Working Meeting of the USA/USSR Task Force on Abatement of Air Pollution from the Iron and Steel Industry.) |
