Abstract |
The study developed comprehensive screening data on the treatability in soil of: (a) specific listed hazardous organic chemicals; and (b) waste sludge from explosives production (K044) and related chemicals. Laboratory experiments were conducted using two soil types, an acidic soil, and a slightly basic sandy loam soil. The experiments were developed to evaluate: (a) the relative toxicity of the chemicals and waste using the MICROTOX bioassay method; (b) the degradation potential of the chemicals and waste in the soils; (c) the adsorption characteristics of the chemicals in the two soils; and (d) the toxicity reduction that occurred during degradation. |
