Abstract | A report is presented with the objective of identifying the 'State of the Art' of NOx emission reduction from stationary sources through combustion modification. This first part of a two part report deals with the control of NOx from utility boilers. The report presents information on sources of, and formation of nitrogen oxides. A total of five factors which effect utility boiler emissions are discussed in detail. A discussion of 'Combustion Modification for NOx Emission Control', includes the following topics: combustion operating modification, combustion equipment, design modifications, and flue gas treatment.
