Abstract |
The report summarizes available information on the use of ultrasonic techniques (in an aqueous solution) for cleaning cylinders used in rotogravure printing processes. Ultrasonic cleaning has the potential to reduce organic solvent use, volatile organic compound emissions, and solvent waste generation. The report briefly reviews the ultrasonic cleaning process, describes the rotogravure printing process and the potential application of aqueous ultrasonic cleanings for cylinders, reviews potential benefits and costs, and discusses the potential for application to other graphic arts processes. |
