Abstract | In 1974 a theory was advanced that postulated the depletion of the stratospheric ozone layer through reactions with chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) emissions on the earth. The results of this depletion could be changes in climate, and serious impacts on animal, vegetable, and human life. In response to this theory, aerosol uses of the CFC were essentially banned in the U.S. in 1978, and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) began a series of studies of the non-aerosol uses of the CFC. jg p.6. |
