Abstract | The kinetics of 2,3,7,8-TCDD sorption and desorption were investigated. Results are presented for two different soils. The experimental data suggest that the sorption process appears to be much more rapid than the desorption process. Desorption was attempted with methanol as an extractant. Methanol, however, was only able to extract a small percentage of the TCDD. The findings of significant irreversibility suggest the local equilibrium assumed in most transport models will not be adequate for describing the transport of 2,3,7,8-TCDD in soils. |
