Abstract |
Research has been directed to a series of problems in water resource management. One pair of projects has focused on problems of water supply planning under uncertainty, and improved methods of analysis for planning have been developed. A set of four research efforts has been devoted to problems of water quality management, with special attention given to the decisions faced by municipalities and regional authorities. New conceptual models of quality management institutions have been proposed, and the conceptual framework has been applied to several sample river basins. A third focus has been on the development of improved computing methods for analysis of river basins. Two projects have contributed new analytical models for preliminary screening of river basin designs. Special attention has been directed to the analysis of flow augmentation for water quality management. Finally, research has been carried out on the use of regional analysis in water resource planning. A static regional input-output model has also been developed that can analyze the interrelations between regional growth and efforts at water quality control. (Author) |
