Abstract |
The major interest in this study was concerned with the findings of endrin and dieldrin in the various types of samples analyzed. Special attention was also given to the frequency and levels of concentration at which DDT and its metabolites DDD and DDE were found. The highest levels of concentration of these pesticides are summarized for the entire study for all samples of each type. The results of the laboratory analyses of all oyster, water, and bottom sediment samples collected during the entire study showed that, in general, chlorinated pesticides were either not detected or were found in very low levels. The amounts of the pesticide residues found by the Food and Drug Administration were reported as insignificant from a health standpoint. (Author Modified Abstract) |
